Weathering the Storm

The storm was approaching. Everybody said it would break records. I stocked up on the only essentials we were missing: wine, coffee, and milk for said coffee. Since everything in the house is electric and we have no generator, we also hoped we'd have heat, a stove, and of course TV and Internet. (UPDATED!)

... we had all those things. It was impressive, but I wouldn't call it a blizzard. The cars are still mostly snowed in and health concerns are forcing the sheer volume of snow to be taken in shifts. Here's the view from one of the large windows overlooking the open space in the house.

Meals and Refreshments

Friday night is always Wine Night. Always. Always. We started with a Temparanillo and finished with a Beujoilais. We had, of all things, some premium ice cream, the finest-quality meat pot pie (the normal kind, sadly not the Pennsylvania Dutch sheets-of-dough kind). The cats had cat food, the occasional nibble of cheese, and enjoyed watching the window.

We're now having mini pizzas.

Electronic Stimulation

All kinds, of course. I spent most of my time reading Using Drupal and learning to ... well, use Drupal. When you think about it, most independent Mac software authors typically handle their product pages, app casts, downloads, FAQs, etc. as a collection of "pages and feeds". I'm learning with an initial investment in setup and structure, Drupal can make short work of this stuff as an integrated system, complete with "add new version to app cast" workflows. Update

Federal offices are closed tomorrow (Monday) due to a snow emergency ... even with a whole day to clear the roads. Awesome. Adult snow day, bitches! My only regret is an unmistakable lack of wine. Unfortunately, the lane back to our place isn't passible by either of our vehicles. I wonder if I have the ingredients to make rum balls. How old is that bottle of Cap'n Morgans in the cabinet?
